Condition of pregnant Fort Myers woman struck by lightning improves

A pregnant woman was struck by lightning in Fort Myers Thursday afternoon.

The condition of Meghan Davidson, the pregnant Fort Myers woman hit by lightning on Thursday, has been upgraded from critical to serious at Lee Memorial Hospital.

A spokesman for Lee Health said information was not available about Davidson's son, Owen, who was born after the 26-year-old Triangle Palm Lane woman was struck.

The lightning strike occurred at around 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Whispering Palms gated community off of Colonial Country Club Boulevard. The lightning was part of a series of heavy storms that moved through the area on Thursday.

Davidson was found by Lee County EMS on the ground when they arrived and was she transported to the hospital.
