If you've ever wondered what record-setting rainfall looks like, just take a peek outside your house, office or semi-swamped car.

The three day period between Aug. 25 and Aug. 27 produced 16.7 inches of rain at Page Field Airport, well above the all-time records for those days (9.8 inches).

Severe flooding plagued south Fort Myers and most of Southwest Florida on Sunday. Heavy rains forced closures of several major roads.

The 9.8 inches weren't the wettest three days during that period. They were the three individually wettest days added together, and two of those records have been surpassed in the past four days.

The heavy rains are expected to continue through Tuesday.
