This is Sheila. She is missing. The Lee County Sheriff's Office is searching for Sheila the snake.

Sheila the boa constrictor remains escaped in the San Carlos Park community where her owners live and they say she could be in someone else's possession now.

The 6½-foot long boa constrictor slipped out of her wood and wire enclosure last week.

"We've searched all over,' owner Joseph Petaccio said, including the wooded and overgrown lot next to their Caloosa Road home.

Joseph Petaccio thinks the snake may be in someone else's possession.

"I think she might have been picked up," he said. Petaccio added that Sheila is "friendly" and would not be difficult to corral.

His wife Amber Petaccio has said she put the reptile back but forgot to snap a bottom lock and didn't notice the snake had gotten out until the next day.

"She just pushed her way out,"  Joseph Petaccio said on Sunday, adding that there's been no sightings or other information on Sheila.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have been searching for the snake in the area, according to LCSO. The area where the snake went missing is on Caloosa between Phlox Drive and Oriole Road.

"Please be on the look out if you live in this area," the sheriff's office posted on their Facebook page last week.

If the snake is seen the LCSO suggested the observer not approach her.

Boa constrictors are non-venomous snakes with no fangs. If someone spots her, call the sheriff's office at 239-477-1000.

Joseph Petraccio said Sheila last ate about four days ago, and is not due to eat for a while. "She's fed every two weeks or so," he said.

She's only ever eaten frozen food and most likely won't attack unless she feels threatened.
