Have you seen gas prices under $3?
Gas prices, which have been falling for the past month, have slipped below $3 a gallon in Cape Coral.
The Race Trac on Del Prado Boulevard across from St. Andrew Catholic Church was offering regular unleaded at $2.999. Membership retailers Sam's Club, Costco and BJ's have also dipped below $3 locally.

Meanwhile, the average price of gas in Lee County is $3.137, down from $3.278 a month ago and $3.315 a year ago, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report. The group doesn't keep similar numbers for Collier County, a smaller market.

Nationally, the average price of regular unleaded gas is $3.072, down from $3.344 a month ago. The state average is $3.073, down from $3.287.
Gas prices haven't been this low locally since 2010, when they closed the year at about $3.09 a gallon.
Tom Kloza, senior oil price analyst for the Oil Price Information Service and GasBuddy.com, told news-press.com last month that by the end of the year in Lee County "the more aggressive retailers (will) get right down to $3 a gallon, but the average price won't quite get there."
He predicted the more significant drops in prices would happen between Oct. 15 and Dec. 15.
