Teen arrested for threatening to 'shoot up the school'

A teenager was arrested for threatening to shoot up a school last week via social media photo-sharing site Instagram.

Shawn Baxter, 17, of Fort Myers, is being charged with intimidation/write send threat to kill or injure, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Nov. 10, a threat was posted on Riverdale High School's Instagram account. "The post was very vulgar in nature," according to the police statement, "and stated that the person would shoot up the school on Wednesday and kill everyone."

Police tracked the IP address of the user and found it was to a home belonging to Baxter's mother. Police interviewed Shawn and he was taken to a Juvenile Assessment Center, according to police.
