Weekend weather outlook: Rains won't go away

Keep the rain jacket and umbrella handy, it's going to rain this weekend.

The National Weather Service in Ruskin is calling for a 50 percent to 80 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms through Monday. NWS posted flood watches for counties north and east of Lee.

Highs will in the upper 80s with lows in the low 70s. Accuweather is predicting heat index values as high as 100 and a UV index of 8 out of 12.

One disturbance is active in the Atlantic Ocean, buts it's about 2,500 miles south-southeast of Fort Myers. Meteorologists are giving it a 10 percent change of forming into a system by early next week.

Pollen counts will be very high for weeds, according to the Weather Channel.

Boaters will see typical late-summer conditions: seas of 3 feet or less with 10 knot winds out of the east.

Sunrise Saturday is at 7:18 a.m. with sunset at 7:19 p.m.
