Dunbar student named PowerPoint World Champ

Tyler Millis, a student at Dunbar High School, won first place in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 in the Microsoft Office Specialist World Competition.

Millis was named world champion during an award ceremony Wednesday that was broadcast online by Certiport.

The Fort Myers student went to the world competition after placing first in his division at the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in June.

Denise Spence, IT programs manager at Dunbar High School, said Millis sets the bar high for other Dunbar students in the Microsoft program.

"It was a huge surprise to know he won, but I knew he had the ability," Spence said.
