Elderly woman bites Cape Coral purse-snatcher

During an alleged purse snatching this morning, an elderly woman bit the would-be thief, who is still missing, according to Cape Coral Police.

Police are looking for the suspect, described as white, in her early 20s, thin with long, dark hair and a tattoo on her upper right arm, according to police.

The incident happened around 9:45 Thursday morning at the Publix on 1631 Del Prado Blvd. South.

An elderly victim said she was putting her groceries in her car when she was approached by a young woman asking for a dollar, according to the police statement. The pair walked into the store, as the victim offered to buy a bottle of water for the suspect from a vending machine. In an attempt to grab the purse, the suspect caused a struggle and the two fell to the ground, according to police.

During the struggle, the victim bit the suspect, who then fled, according to police. The suspect got into the passenger seat of a truck driven by a white male.
