Cape's Providence school opens addition

After more than a decade of prayer and three years of intense planning, Providence Christian School in Cape Coral recently opened its new 4,900 square foot building addition and marked the day with a ribbon cutting.

Zac Rullo, Student Government Association President at Providence Christian School, cuts the ribbon on a new addition at the school.

Parents, students, faculty, and members of Evangelical Presbyterian Church gathered to join in song and prayer, as Zac Rullo, the Student Government Association President, cut a purple ribbon to open the new front office, four primary-age classrooms and school library.  Providence Christian School is the largest ministry of Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and offers classes in Pre-K 3 through eighth grade.

"We built this with the hope that we would attract more kids to hear the good news of the gospel and teach them of the love of God and Jesus Christ, so we're excited this day has finally come," Pastor Brent Lauder said.

For many in attendance at the ribbon cutting, it was their first opportunity to walk-through and view the finished building.

For Jami Hommerbocker, Head of School and a long-time church member, it was a day of celebration.  “I’m just the lucky principal who gets to publicly acknowledge others for their commitment and hard work. The church and parents have been dreaming of this project for more than 10-15 years.”

Providence Christian School, located on the corner of Skyline Boulevard and Mohawk Parkway, will also celebrate its 30-year anniversary in 2016.

“We are thankful for this building because it will help us grow and educate more children to God’s glory, and it allows us to free other areas of our campus for additional play space or further expansion,” Hommerbocker said.

The school’s current enrollment is 90 students, and the additional classroom space will allow them to expand to at least 150.
