The remains of a 2.5 year old uncollared male Florida panther were collected Sunday on County Road 951 just north of Port au Prince in Collier County, according to Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission.

The carcass is at the FWC Naples Field Office and will be sent to the FWC Gainesville lab for necropsy. This is the 10th Florida panther killed this year and the eighth by a vehicle.

An 18-month old panther was found Saturday on Interstate 75 about one-half mile south of the Corkscrew Road exit in Lee County.

More panther deaths were recorded in 2014 (33 overall, 25 of those being road kills) than any year on record. A panther found this year might be added to last year's total.
